Create some student jobs but keep them basic, i.e. Class photographer, tech support, attendance. In reality I created an iAyudo board with 9 different jobs (more than I wanted, but I think it will work). I found that using Power Point allowed me to manipulate images MUCH more easily than Word. |
Investigate electronic options for my plan book. I'm torn between: Planbook.com, Planbookedu.com and creating a template on Evernote. And the winner is...Planbook.com! The ONLY thing that I'm having issues with is the student/ administrator view. It won't show up! |
The other teacher desk and two tall filing cabinets in my classroom are supposed to be moved to a neighboring classroom. This raises many questions for me: How can I rearrange students' seating to maximize space and flexibility? Do I really need my teacher desk? If not, what other options do I have? Word wall? Two 7th grade students asked to help me with design ideas; I'm excited to see their ideas! I did get rid of the two teacher desks and am down to 3/4 of a filing cabinet. I also created a teacher toolbox based on ideas that I saw on Pinterest. Admittedly I went a little nuts this year with revamping the class environment and overall setup - everything from new bulletin board fabric, bringing floor pillows from home and spray painting old stools and tables from home. More importantly I determined the need for a more mobile environment. I found a table on wheels from another colleague's room. I also assessed the need for space suckers, such as the enormous book cart for my classroom library and an old, broken art supply cart. I'm taking greater advantage of my counter space. I say ALMOST done since I'm still playing around with my desk arrangement. |
Learn how to use Canvas. Is it more user-friendly than my current LMS, Edmodo? The jury is still out on this one. While I'm not 100% sold on Canvas in terms of its ease of use, I'm willing to give it a try in my Spanish 2 classes. I spent time watching numerous videos just to get the basic course set up, and I've never had to do that before with ANY course management system that I've used! To me, Edmodo is much more intuitive to use (plus it's free). |
