We finally made it through the most extraordinary school year in everyone's career. There have been so many ups and downs emotionally and physically. How hard was it to simultaneously teach in-person and online while using Zoom with an OWL camera? We had to do everything, but the teachers didn't feel like we did any one thing well.
Luckily, I was blessed with kind and patient students. They let me know when I forgot to share my screen or if something wasn't working. They asked if I meant to add sound to the video or didn't unmute myself (and they couldn't hear the conversation). I've never had so many students who would say "Thank you" on a daily basis - regardless of their learning mode. |

One of my favorite games is a mashup of the Dating Game and Match Game. I call it "Mi Media Naranja" - The other half of my orange (soulmate). It's a guessing/ matching game. Here's the set up:
1. Divide the class into 2 teams.
2. In a typical year, we use small dry erase boards to write responses. This year, all students logged into Zoom and utilized the Chat (direct message to me) to record responses.
3. Team A goes first. I show/ ask a question to Student 1A. They write their response while their teammates are guessing how they'll respond.
4. Team A receives one point per correct match.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 with Team B.
6. When it's Team A's turn again, I show/ ask a question to Student 1B. They write their response while their teammates are guessing how they'll respond.
You can get your own copy of the game HERE.
