Being an introvert, I find that reflection is a strength of mine. I like to listen and process what I've learned and (hopefully) make connections to prior learning. Last week I attended the NTPRS Coaching for Coaches workshop. The day was masterfully structured with the coaches modeling what good coaching looked like. I had a few "a-ha" moments - as if different worlds collided. First I'm so glad that I started reading The Art of Coaching by Elena Aguilar prior to the workshop. Second I saw many connections to my previous peer coaching training and to the 7 Norms of Collaboration that we have used in numerous leadership groups in our district. |
After experiencing these two learning opportunities and processing what I learned, I'm considering my next steps. One goal is to blog for reflection at least once per month. Ideally I'd like to blog more, but I want to set a reasonable, attainable goal. Second, although technology integration has been a passion of mine, I have had some issues with the university where I was taking courses for my instructional technology certification. Long story short: I had to reapply to the program, the university lost some of my transcripts and they canceled the summer section of final class that I needed prior to doing my internship. I wonder if this is a sign! Maybe instructional coaching is the direction I should take. I can still focus on technology integration, but coaching encompasses a more broad range of topics. Finally, a teacher from a neighboring district, a colleague in my district and I are considering forming a local group of teachers of Comprehensible Input. I'd like to get this into motion very soon!
