Vocabulary Summative Assessment
Assessing using Comprehensible Input (CI) makes the most sense since I TEACH with CI. In addition based on my reading of Ken O'Connor's work, the "grade" needs to be meaningful and communicate what skill is being evaluated. To lump all of the results together into one test grade is meaningless. I can provide more clear, meaningful feedback by breaking down the assessments by skill. I also provide evaluation criteria by section so that students and parents are very clear about the expectations.

I was a bit surprised with the results of parts 1 and 2 based on the positive results of the two formatives. Nonetheless for Novice High/ Intermediate Low students, there is shown to be an INCREASE in errors as well as an INCREASE in the amount of time to get from one proficiency level to the next. This makes me wonder if that portion of the assessment is appropriate for emerging learners of past tense structures. If it's not appropriate, how can it be changed to better reflect best practice assessment and students' proficiency levels?
